Penne d'Agenais - A royal City in Guyenne -Penne probably owes her name to the Celts who arrived in the region about two hundred years before the Christian era (in their tongue, "penn" meant "crest of the mountain"). But before them other peoples had lived in this region and had left evidence of their passage : at Auradou, there are remains of a dolmen probably about 5 000 years old, at Port-de-Penne, at the confluent of the Lot and the Boudouyssou, there is a camping place used by hunters of the Azilian period 8 to 10 000 years ago. The cave paintings of Trentels are probably even older.
