This book is aimed at all candidates taking European institution competition exams who wish to prepare in the best possible way for the e-tray test. The e-tray test is a computer-based simulation of a real-life working situation. It consists of an email inbox containing between 15 and 20 emails. The candidate must use these to answer a series of multiple choice questions. For each question, he has to rank three options according to a 5-point scale ranging from “Totally disagree” to “Totally agree”. The e-tray test is a technical exercise. It is designed to measure four competencies: ‘Analysis and problem solving', ‘Delivering quality and results', ‘Prioritising and organising' and ‘Working with others'. The main challenge of the test lies in the scattered nature of the information and the time allowed for the exercise (50 minutes). To succeed in this test, the candidate must quickly identify the relevant emails and extract the key information from them. He must also combine different criteria in order to rank the options correctly. This book is a step-by step guide on how to deal with an e-tray test. It includes: - a detailed methodology illustrated with an example; - a comprehensive e-tray exercise; - a detailed correction of the exercise.
