In 2000, the Expo in Hanover saw the world premiere of this arrangement of two parts from the opera Der Rattenfänger by Wilfried Hiller and Michael Ende. The myth about the Pied Piper is placed in a new contemporary context; the musical language, however, draws on the time of the legend, the early Middle Ages. The two performers of the world premiere of the work for clarinet and percussion were Jörg Widmann and Stefan Blum, with the latter also having arranged the new version. Instrumentation: clarinet and percussion
